The Weather Station

Bio

The Weather Station’s Humanhood is Tamara Lindeman’s most arresting album yet, a raw and immersive journey through disorientation, grief, and slow renewal. Written during one of the most difficult periods of her life, Humanhoodcaptures the feeling of not knowing how or what to contribute to the world, or if we even have the energy to try.

Recorded with a band of improvisational musicians, the album unfolds like a near-continuous piece of music, with drifting instrumentals linking the songs. Tracks like “Body Moves” pulse between hymn and elastic pop, mirroring a misfiring heart, while “Window” surges with slashing guitars and spiraling electronics, a sonic panic attack. Traces of promise emerge slowly—in the title track, Lindeman finds solace in nature’s currents, and in “Lonely,” she seeks healing through community and music.

The album’s finale, “Sewing”, stitches together moments of suffering and triumph—a vow to keep moving forward, however fragile the will may be. Humanhood is a reflection of endurance, a tether for those lost in the vertiginous reality of now.
