Bio
Emerging from Munich’s DIY independent scene, Hallway brings together a large group of musicians to craft an adventurous and natural sound. Shaped by the raw spirit of ’90s DIY music as well as contemporary experimental music, the six-piece works and thinks as one rather than the sum of all individuals.
Their debut album explores empty spaces bridging many elements from folk and ambient music. As the eight songs go on in the shape of lengthy sentimental post-rock, they are densely packed with a great amount of noise, room recordings and distorted instrumental samples, filling up the space like a liberated and vibrant orchestra. During recording, the band has experimented with unfamiliar instruments and different recording techniques, with space for improvisation and spontaneity. At times things scratch, break and even sound cruel, sometimes they give way to something even more beautiful.
